Tannehill Blast Furnace

The Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers (BUMP) in cooperation with Bike Link and Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park will begin building an 11 mile singletrack mountain bike trail the weekend of November 14th-15th 2009. Our goal for this first of many work weekends is to complete two miles of singletrack trail to compliment the 4.5 miles of existing dirt road. This will create a 6.5 mile ridable loop which will ultimately be expanded to approximately 11 miles of singletrack. The new skinny bridge

Replacing the bridges on the lower part of the Red Trail has been an on-going process for about a year. Each time we have replaced or removed a bridge, we tried to make the trail a little more interesting. On Aug 7, about 15 BUMP volunteers made a significant change to the bridge right before you reach the BMX track. This bridge had a history of washing out and the area was showing signs of bad erosion.
