  • At 41 years old now, in the past couple years I have broken my collar bone twice and my wrist once, then the lastest 3 weeks ago, dislocated my shoulder and still under going test to see what I have done to my back. In my down time, I have had to do a little re-evaluating of my life. Before you pile on and say Im a sissy (Monty, Mitch) lol...I have 6 children who depend on me to continue working and bringing in what little money I make theses days. Three kids still at home in high school and 3 in college, I just cant afford to miss any more work than I already have. Due to my inability to stop attempting ridiculous things on the mountain bike that I know I can't do but still try and wind up getting hurt to the point I can't work, the bike must go. (This is all code word for momma said either me or the bike have to go.) I kind of like her, so I guess here we go.... $2000... will throw in 2 new Kenda Nevegal tires, and will leave the computer/speedometer with it.

  •  DeShazo Lives!  Gosh, I thought you looked good for 48 - now I know why.   I was thinking of starting a "Whatever happened to.." thread with you as the first.lost rider...guess we will have to move Matt Passino up the list and onto the first segment.

If your in as bad a shape as you claim what about the bike?

  • Sorry to hear about your woes, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Even though you're giving up riding, we wouldn't mind seeing your mug around occasionally.

  • I hope you continue to try to stay fit. I see too many people develop chronic problems like obesity, diabetes and hypertension which leads to other issues down the road.  Although there is no guarentees of not getting hurt with MTN biking, I find the sport is too enjoyable even with injuries and if one's speed is controlled on the downhill runs the danger can be reduced.

  • Dennis, this is "Momma"...LOL.  I am very proud of you and I want all of your BUMP friends to know that this was YOUR decision.  Really guys!!!! Poor "Special K", as I call the bike, has been sitting alone in the basement for quite some time anyway as you have become a full-time student as well as still having to work full time and run your business.  We all DO need for you to work as my poor little teacher salary just can't pull the weight alone.  We all know you LOVE your hobbies but you can still geocache and go hiking and hang in your hammock!!!

  • I'm thinking mountain biking is probably safer. Just saying.

  •  Mitch, the bike is in excellent shape, I took all the abuse unfortunately.

    Jim, thanks for the support.

Mark, I may get a road bike to stay in shape, I wont be tempted to do stupid things on it....(maybe).. If I can just keep from being run over by a car.

Brain, don't tease...lol.. I took off the stock pedals and put on blue candys

  •  Hmmm?  A road bike to stay in shape.  Maybe a cross bike for a little fun in the fall.  Trade one bike out for 2 more?  I don't think Momma will be happy.

So Matt is coming back..He's off the list for "Whatever happened to..?".  I guess next up is Alan Ellis.  Anyone seen or heard from Alan?
