The Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers (BUMP) in cooperation with Bike Link and Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park will begin building an 11 mile singletrack mountain bike trail the weekend of November 14th-15th 2009. Our goal for this first of many work weekends is to complete two miles of singletrack trail to compliment the 4.5 miles of existing dirt road. This will create a 6.5 mile ridable loop which will ultimately be expanded to approximately 11 miles of singletrack.
This will be a weekend full of fun as well as hard work to create another much needed trail in the greater Birmingham area. To make this a reality we will need a strong showing from mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners and anyone who enjoys experiencing nature and is willing to get their hands dirty to promote the cause. No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome to participate.
Bring your bike! There will be some time for evening rides as the park will lift restrictions on night riding for the weekend.
